Sustainability Office

Established in 2008, the HKU Sustainability Office works with the Estates Office, Vice Chancellor’s Office and colleagues throughout the University on initiatives to improve sustainability at the University of Hong Kong.

Through this website, we hope to bring greater attention to the many people at HKU who are working to increase understanding and awareness of the economic, environmental, and social aspects of sustainability, managing our impacts, and reaching out to the community on campus and beyond.

This is an exciting time to be at HKU, with unprecedented growth and changes underway. It’s also a very challenging time. The transition to a new, four-year curriculum and development of the Centennial Campus mean more students and staff, more built space, and more activities – all of which bring new opportunities – while also driving greater resource use and environment impacts.
